Low vision

Significant sight loss affects over 188,000 people across Scotland, equivalent to 1 in 30 of the population. It is predicted that this figure will double by 2031. For Ayrshire and Arran, this accounts for 12,440 in 2013, with an increase to around 24,880 by 2031 if no additional preventative measures are taken.

Our practices is involved in the local low vision scheme and can provide magnifiers and other low vision aid devices after performing a comprehensive low vision assessment.

Magnifiers can be provided on a private basis or, in some cases, as a long term loan agreement with the health board at no cost to the customer.

For more information please contact any one of our practices.
