James R Shaw came to Cumnock in 1970 and took over from Miss Helen Hunter at the home practice on Barrhill Road.
In 1977 James moved to current location on Townhead St, Cumnock.
Twin sons Russell and Stewart joined the firm in 1984 when the company name changed to James R Shaw & Sons.
In 2000 Alan Beck joined the company, followed by Rebecca Hamilton in 2017 and Jack Reilly in 2021.
